How the Matchmaking Services at Find Love Safely Work: A Guide for Guardians

Finding love is an exciting journey, but for adults with intellectual disabilities, traditional dating platforms can present unique challenges. As a guardian, you want to ensure your loved one is in good hands, and that’s exactly what Find Love Safely is all about. This service was created by me, a mom and stepmom to eight adult children, four of whom have intellectual disabilities. The goal? Here’s a step-by-step look at how the process works, so you can feel confident about the safety and care your loved one will receive.

Step 1: Complete the Intake Form
The journey begins with the Intake Form. The individual interested in matchmaking must have their guardian’s permission to participate. The form gathers important information about your loved one, which helps give me a good idea of what they’re looking for from Find Love Safely. This step ensures the matchmaking process is personalized and tailored to their needs and desires.

Step 2: Complete the Agreement
Guardians will receive an email asking them to fill out the Intellectual Disabilities Matchmaking Services Agreement. You can read the Agreement in advance by clicking on "Service Agreement" in the footer of the website. Please take a moment to read the Agreement thoroughly before signing! 

Step 3: Schedule Zoom Call
After the Agreement has been signed by both of the guardian and Find Love Safely, guardians receive an email to schedule a Zoom call with the prospective Find Love Safely member, guardian, and me. Both the individual and their guardian must attend this call, as it is an opportunity for everyone to ask questions and discuss expectations. This step also plays a crucial role in safety verification because I ensure every participant is a real person who genuinely wants to engage in the process. It’s also a chance for me to learn more about the prospective member, and for you to ask me questions. After this call, the prospective member is now an official Find Love Safely member!!

Step 4: Receive Matches
When a potential match is found, the guardian receives an email with detailed profile information, including the person’s age, location, and interests. If both you and your loved one agree to move forward, you’ll coordinate directly with the match’s guardian to arrange the date.

This setup ensures that guardians remain in control of the process, from scheduling the first meeting to managing ongoing communication. Plus, as long as your loved one is a member of Find Love Safely, they will receive unlimited matches. If, at any point, they decide they no longer want to participate, simply let me know in writing.
