Love, age 19, and Kailyn, age 21, live about an hour apart in California, but they shared enough common interests that matchmaker Mary decided to introduce them. The families were open to the idea of driving that distance, so the couple first scheduled a video call. That went well, so they planned a date at a Starbucks coffee shop.

Sparks Flew at Starbucks
When they met at Starbucks, they were immediately attracted to each other, and both ordered peppermint hot cocoa and split a brownie. “It was fun,” said Love. “I was excited. I thought to myself, she is beautiful. She brings sparks to my eyes.”
My favorite features are his eyes, his rosy cheeks and his smile. I needed someone special, just like me, and I felt like I found him.

Every Date Brings Them Closer
The couple has been busy doing activities together ever since they met. The families went on a vacation together and Love and Kailyn went swimming. Love was apprehensive about getting in the water at first, but Kailyn encouraged him and he went right in. They have seen movies together, gone on walks, went dancing, did an art class where they made mosaics, and had dinners together.
Kailyn has food sensitivities, so they will order a dish to share so she can try it. Their parents have observed that they support and encourage each other.

Finding Someone Who Truly Understands
Both Love and Kailyn have observed their cousins and friends with significant others, and have wanted that for themselves. “Love and I have such a bond together,” says Kailyn. “He's the perfect guy for me. We had our first kiss on our second date.”

Cheering Each Other On
Love expressed mutual feelings about Kailyn. “She's beautiful and I feel happy. We're excited together. I'm good at expressing my feelings to her.”
They both support each other's interests, with Love attending Kailyn's dance performance, and Kailyn attending Love's musical performance.

Dreaming of Forever, One Step at a Time
Asked what makes their relationship special, Love said, “We love each other in a romantic way, and we want to get married.” Kailyn agrees, although they both plan to take things slow. They have been dating just a few months, and Kailyn wants to graduate from college first. She said the wait is worth it. “Now that I have Love, I'm happy.”
Now that I have Love, I'm happy.
